Bisa hidup bebas layaknya para bujangan jelas adalah impian semua pria yang telah menikah. Bayangkan saja betapa gembiranya Rick (Owen Wilson) dan Fred (Jason Sudeikis) saat istri-istri mereka mengizinkan mereka untuk menikmati hidup sebagai bujangan. Bebas sebebas bebasnya bahkan tak akan ada pertanyaan setelah itu.

Sebenarnya, awalnya peristiwa ini terjadi karena istri Fred dan Rick merasa bahwa bahwa pernikahan mereka mulai terasa kurang harmonis lagi. Karena tak ada solusi, akhirnya dua wanita ini mengizinkan suami-suami mereka untuk berbuat bebas selama satu minggu penuh. Satu minggu penuh dan tak akan ada pertanyaan soal apa saja yang telah mereka lakukan selama satu minggu itu.

Awalnya, ide ini disambut dengan antusias oleh Rick dan Fred. Segera saja Rick dan Fred memanfaatkan waktu satu minggu ini untuk bersenang-senang. Tapi betapa kagetnya Fred dan Rick saat mereka mengetahui bahwa di saat yang sama ternyata istri-istri mereka juga melakukan hal yang sama. Akhirnya satu minggu yang awalnya begitu menyenangkan berubah menjadi satu minggu yang sangat menyiksa.....

Chinese Ghost Story

This popular and beloved film, produced by Tsui Hark and directed by Ching Siu Tung, is a standout in the Hong Kong supernatural-action genre and spawned many sequels and copycats. A Chinese Ghost Story stars Leslie Cheung as Ning Tsei-Shen, a timid and likable tax collector. Looking for a place to stay the night, he comes upon a spooky abandoned temple occupied by a tough Taoist swordsman (Ma Wu). Despite his warnings, Tsei-Shen stays anyway. Later he encounters a beautiful maiden (Joey Wang) who he quickly falls in love with. Unfortunately, she is a ghost who is being forced to trap men for an evil spirit who feeds on their souls. A Chinese Ghost Story has been widely praised for infusing the genre with humor, action, romance, and inventive special effects. Memorable images include an attacking mile-long tongue and a cloak opening to dozens of ghastly decapitated heads. The final battle in hell is said to have inspired scenes in Sam Raimi's Army of Darkness. And the film has its share of homage: A group of crusty zombies are reminiscent of the skeletons in special-effects guru Ray Harryhausen's 7th Voyage of Sinbad--and they are eliminated by Tsei-Shen in comedic slapstick fashion, not unlike the style of Charlie Chaplin. Cheung and Wang are a likeable romantic pair, and Ma Wu creates a hilarious character who breaks out into song and a martial arts dance when drunk. The DVD transfer is topnotch, with the film's misty mood lighting and fluttering gowns appearing layered and crisp. It's a must-see for Hong Kong action film fans.

Former Miss Malaysia and current butt-kicking Hong Kong action star Michelle Yeoh leaped to international attention costarring alongside Jackie Chan in Supercop. The film was actually the third installment of Chan's successful Police Story series, but that didn't stop cagey producers from turning out Supercop 2 as a solo vehicle for the lean, lithe Yeoh. She travels from mainland China to Hong Kong to "advise" local cops on a Chinese drug lord and discovers Rong Guang Yu (from Iron Monkey and Rock and Roll Cop), her former lover and now the leader of a militia-style gang in partnership with her quarry. Yeoh is in fine form, kicking off the picture with a thrilling close-quarters battle in a high-rise hotel, but the complicated plot of high tech crime, double crosses, and conflicted loyalties strangles the action and slows the film despite such action highlights as an impressive three-man raid on a well-armed criminal den. (Jackie Chan's jokey cameo as a cop in drag doesn't really help matters.) The film finally regains its energy in an explosive free-for-all bank heist climax, in which the painful English dubbing becomes all but unnoticeable as bullets fly, bodies crunch, and balletic Michelle Yeoh moves like a dynamo.

Yakin bahwa hidupnya akan bahagia bersama Scarlett, Mike kemudian memutuskan untuk menikahi Scarlett dan meninggalkan semua yang bisa ia miliki saat itu. Dua puluh tahun kemudian, Mike mulai meragukan pilihan yang ia buat saat itu. Rumah tangganya mulai berantakan dan ia memilih tinggal bersama Ned Freedman (Thomas Lennon) teman baiknya.

Suatu hari, ketika Mike sedang berusaha menolong seorang pria yang akan bunuh diri, tiba-tiba saja Mike mendapati dirinya berubah menjadi dirinya ketika berusia tujuh belas tahun. Bingung dan tak tau harus berbuat apa, ia kemudian meminta bantuan Ned yang untungnya bisa menerima kejadian aneh ini.

Ned kemudian berpura-pura menjadi ayah Mike dan mendaftarkan Mike ke sebuah SMA. Kini Mike harus mulai beradaptasi dengan lingkungan yang sama sekali baru. Parahnya lagi, ia ternyata harus berada di satu sekolah dengan Maggie (Michelle Trachtenberg), putrinya.

Ide mengulang masa lalu memang selalu menjadi ide yang menarik. Bukan apa, hampir semua orang pasti punya penyesalan dan ingin mengulang saat ia membuat kesalahan dan memperbaikinya. Itu memang solusi yang selalu terbayang saat menghadapi masalah berat. Itu juga yang membuat banyak orang film yang mencoba menuangkan ide ini ke dalam bentuk film. Tak sedikit film bertema ini yang sudah diproduksi sampai-sampai ide ini jadi tak menarik lagi.

Dan sepertinya Burr Steers, sang sutradara, juga tak bisa lepas dari pakem cerita soal mengulang masa lalu ini. Memang ada pesan yang disampaikan namun rasanya sudah basi untuk diulang-ulang lagi. THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT sempat membuat pencerahan dalam genre yang satu ini tapi itupun tak bertahan lama karena saat dibuat sekuelnya, ide itu jadi tak menarik lagi.

17 AGAIN ini bisa disebut versi ringan dari film-film yang mengusung tema serupa. Malahan bisa dibilang, film ini hanya dibuat untuk ‘mengekspos’ Zac Efron yang bisa dipastikan bakal menyedot banyak pengunjung gedung bioskop. Akting para pemeran biasa-biasa saja sementara alur cerita juga tak terlalu menarik. Akhirnya, yang tertinggal hanyalah 100 menit hiburan yang tak membebani otak.....

Sinopsis :

Law Abiding Citizen bercerita tentang ketidakadilan dalam sebuah perkara hukum. Ironisnya, setelah tersangka pembunuhnya tertangkap polisi dan dihadapkan ke pengadilan, kasus pembunuhan yang ditangani Nick Rice (Jamie Foxx) ini malah meringankan hukuman tersangka berkat titipan pesan dari atasannya. Tentu saja, ketidakadilan ini membuat Clay menjadi dendam.
Sepuluh tahun kemudian, salah satu dari tersangka pembunuhan itu tewas dibunuh Clay. Akhirnya Clay menyerahkan diri ke polisi dan dipenjara. Sebelum dipenjara, Clay mengultimatum Nick untuk memperbaiki hukumannya kepada para tersangka pembunuh atau anggota sidang pengadilan yang dipimpin Nick tewas satu persatu. Tema balas dendam bukanlah hal baru. Sudah banyak film yang bertema sama yang menampilkan seorang pria biasa menjelma menjadi pembunuh sadis. Sebut saja Death Wish dan Death Sentences. Intrik-intrik menarik dan action yang ditampilkan dalam Law Abiding Citizen tentu akan memberi nyawa lebih dalam film yang akan dirilis 16 Oktober 2009....
